The 3 Best Ways To Style Overalls- Fashion FAQ
Overalls were a staple in my closet in 1995. I had some really great Winnie The Pooh ones that I wore all the time. But, when I grew up and we grew out of the 90s, denim overalls were officially over. By over I mean they were mostly only worn ironically, as a costume, or in different parts of the world/country and not for fashion purposes. I really pride myself in being a classic gal. I don’t easily give into trends and I stay very true to my core style. When overalls for women started to make a comeback I was REPULSED! (is that dramatic?) I seriously was though. I really don’t know why. It took me a year or two to really discover the classic vibe overalls actually have. Plus, they are so versatile and super comfy if you get the right pair.
This is a wardrobe piece that you may take a minute to warmup to. It’s something that you may feel a little silly in the first couple of times you wear, but trust me you will learn to love them. Confidence is key here!
OVERALLS
I have three pairs of overalls right now. One is a short pair, classic wash denim that is on the baggier side for extreme comfort and the undone look. The other pair I have is a black wash denim with some rips in the shorts and a shorter length. And then I have a full length overall that I am recently obsessed with.
There are tons of different ways to style overalls, but before we get into it; remember that you make the rules! These are just styles that I like for my personal fashion POV. Style and fashion is 100% up to YOU! That’s the best part.
Style 1: Classic Comfy
This is the way I style my short overalls 99% of the time. Great for lounging, running errands, and just relaxing. All you need for this look is your overalls and your fave t-shirt. I really love wearing a comfy t-shirt with my jean overalls both long and short. It’s a really great way to take your casual jeans and a t-shirt look to the next level but still retain your effortlessly cool look.

Style 2: Preppy & Put Together
This last look is one I have recently really been digging. It’s as simple as the others, but the key piece here is a fun button up collared shirt. You could keep this as simple as a white button up, but for the sake of fun I am showing you this look with a rainbow washed button up shirt (from Marshall’s). If you wanted to take the preppy look a step further, add some accessories and you are good to go.

Style 3: I’m Effortlessly This Chic
Depending on your mood (and the weather), this is a great option for both long & short overalls. A fitted off the shoulder top instantly pulls together any overall look to make it appear you are more put together than you’re actually feeling. I really love the look of an off the shoulder bodysuit here but honestly it is one of the most difficult outfits to wear because of how much you have to do just to PEE! (maybe just don’t drink any water the day you wear this look ;)). If bodysuits aren’t for you, that’s totally cool. Find a fitted off the shoulder top and rock it. Also, you can totally sub in a looser off the shoulder top. It will give a more casual feel and still be super cute.

Are overalls a closet staple for you? What’s your go-to way to wear them? LMK! I can never have enough inspo.
P.S. did I mention that I think overalls are one of the ultimate keys to effortless chic?
