Affordable and High End Favorite Lipsticks

I vividly remember when I was way younger thinking that lipstick was so dumb. Like, why was my mom spending so much time lining her lips with a color that was literally the exact same color as her real lips?!? I didn’t get into lipstick until like 5 years ago and then all the sudden my life was never the same. At this point in time, I can’t put on makeup without putting on some kind of lip color (even if it’s just a tinted lip balm).I have lipstick favorites from all ends of the spectrum- some are definitely splurge items where some are totally affordable finds. I think there’s something for everyone in here- especially if you’re a sucker for a red lip like me. Let’s swatch all my favorite lipsticks!

  1. First on my list I’m going to put one of my first ever splurge lipsticks that I still love so much. Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shine in the color Dialogue. The reason I love this lipstick so much is for the consistency and color. It’s a semi-sheer red that feels like a hydrating lip balm. This lipstick is $37, so it’s definitely a special purchase.

  2. This is a holy grail lippy for me that I love to wear because it is so long lasting- even after eating and talking all day. Plus, it only costs $5.50. This is ColourPop’s Lippie Stix in Trust Me. It’s also in their Matte X formula which I absolutely love. This color is a true red, very pigmented.

  3. This is a new find for me that I immediately fell in love with (so much so that there are two lippys on this list from this brand). Sephora Collection’s Lipstories in the color After Hours. This line is unbelievable. This color is in the Matte finish but it doesn’t feel drying at all. It goes on super creamy and is so pigmented in only one swipe. I couldn’t believe the price tag of only $8 because it feels very high end. Also, love this color- it’s a really fun brick red that can easily transition from day to night and summer to fall.

  4. Another Sephora Collection’s Lipstories lipstick. This one is in the color First Class. It’s also in the matte finish, goes on super smooth and pigmented and only costs $8. This color is a bright reddish orange. I really like it for a nice pop of color and something a little different from my usual reds.

  5. This is a cult classic. I really get it. If you love red lipsticks you definitely need this one. It’s Mac’s Ruby Woo. It’s a perfect red with a blue undertone and a matte finish. It goes on smooth and the best part about it is how it wears through the day. The color fades so nicely as you eat and drink that it doesn’t even need a new application unless you want a fresh burst of color. I also love to put this on my finger and tap it into my lips for a blotted natural looking lip. This lip is $18.50.

  6. This is my favorite “lipstick” when I don’t feel like actually wearing lipstick. Maybelline’s Baby Lips are my everything. I love the color Cherry Me. These are like $3.50ish depending on where you buy it. It’s a perfect sheer and subtle red that is 100% a lip balm so it hydrates while providing a little bit of color.

  7. When I saw the packaging on this lipstick I couldn’t resist. Then, once I swatched it and wore it IRL, I was hooked. Pat McGrath’s lipstick in Full Panic is so great. It glides on like a dream, is super matte but feels extremely comfortable, and it’s so pigmented in just one swipe that I feel like this tube will last my whole life. This lipstick is $38.

  8. Here’s another lipstick from Sephora Collection. This one is one of their cream lip stains and it’s in the color English Rose (86). This is a really pretty mauvey nude. It’s what I would wear almost as my nude color because I still like a bit of pink or red on my lips. For the most part these stay on all day, you may need a little touchup here and there but they’re pretty long lasting. They are $14.

  9. Last up is a new favorite for me. YSL’s Glossy Stain in the color Rouge Fusion. This is a really interesting lip product. It goes on like a lipgloss and stays glossy but once you start eating or drinking, it will gracefully come off your lips and leave a really pretty stain. I absolutely love how it wears throughout the day because of the stain it leaves. I also really like the look of a super pigmented gloss. This costs $37.
